Jersey City Council President and mayoral candidate Joyce Watterman has officially announced Vernon Richardson as her campaign’s candidate for the Ward F council seat in the upcoming November 4, 2025, municipal election.

“I am thrilled to welcome Vernon Richardson to the Joyce For JC team. Vernon’s dedication to Jersey City and his proven record of working collaboratively with residents make him the right choice for Ward F,” Watterman stated.

Richardson, a former aide to Mayor Steven Fulop and chief of staff to the late Councilman Michael Yun, previously ran for the Ward F seat in 2021, finishing third. In his renewed bid, he emphasized his commitment to community advancement, stating, “The Greenville, Bergen-Lafayette, and Downtown communities of Ward F are looking for someone who can advance the community and not simply serve as an obstructionist.”Hudson County View+1Jersey City Times

The Ward F race also includes Rev. Keith Garvin-Howell, aligned with Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea, and Gloria Walton, part of former Governor Jim McGreevey’s slate.

Watterman’s endorsement of Richardson complements her previously announced slate, which includes Rev. Tami Weaver-Henry, Dave Carment, and Kenny Reyes for at-large council seats, and former Board of Education Trustee Alexander Hamilton for Ward E.
